The day before yesterday I got stunned when my younger sister told me that one of our neighbour's daughter-in-law burnt herself to death leaving behind her 1.5 months old newborn baby girl. And I got even more shocked when I came to know that her in-laws are not accepting the newborn ! Now this rude world is not less then the hell for her. Poor baby. This incident made me to think about the responsible person. Who is responsible for this newborn's Dead Life, anyway? Her father? Her mother? Or the society in which she born?
Such incidences are nothing but the shameless black spot on the shining India's face. This is clearly the 'Dowry Death' case. And today dowry is deeply rooted in Indian societies which is very difficult to get rid of. I strongly believe that if groom's side is demanding the dowry, that means groom is not at all able to feed his wife and children in future. This would be alright if these things stops here only. But demand goes on even after they get married, they torture the girl, forces her to get the money from her parents. Finally if not a single way lefts, she starts thinking about committing suicide, and mostly does so. Girl's parents are also partially responsible for such incidences. They marry their daughter to the family who is demanding dowry, they are indirectly taking life's biggest risk. They forgets that they are already giving them their life's earning (their daughter). What else then can expect? Such are the greedy people, impossible to believe upon. Today about 85% bride deaths are due to dowry only. Who suffers from such incidences most? ...Only their children & dependent ones !
More shameful is that these days such incidences happens in well educated families ! They tortures their daughter-in-laws, saying they want only baby boy (not girl). Is this any factory from where you can select what you want? Whats wife's mistake if she delivers baby girl? Why can't they understand today girl is much ahead of a boy? A girl can do what a boy cannot. If wife is responsible, then equally husband is also responsible. Why the hell they don't understand this thing?....STOP DEMANDING DOWRY !
Girls and guys, today we are on the stage where sooner or later we are going to get marry. We are the only one who can make difference in the society by not demanding any kind of dowry, and girls -> by not marrying such boy whose family is greedy about dowry (dowry may be in the form of direct cash, home set-up utilities, bike, car etc..). Don't wait for government's actions on it.
I've decided I'll not do such stupid things in my life. And I am proud of what I've decided. Is this blog sufficient enough to make you awake on this regard?
